dh asked this question the other day and I was like...ya know what? I have no clue! Our friends have their one year old sleep with a pillow. But to think back I have never seen a pillow in crib?
Someone gave me a little baby pillow with a minky dot cover for a shower gift. I put that in Emerson's crib right around 1 yr old. I've since seen them in baby boutiques.

I gave it to her a couple of months ago and she LOVES it. She has one of my "old" ones, so it isn't as plump. This morning she was mad at me because I wouldn't let her play all night long, so she got out of bed and on to the floor (she was sleeping with me...battle of the wills!!) and took my pillow and laid on the floor.
DS has had a small pillow in his crib for quite a while now. He started flipping over to his stomach months ago but I noticed he was always extremely restless at night.
One day we were napping on the floor and he flopped over to his tummy, with his head and upper half mostly on a pillow and slept so soundly I thought I'd try it at night -- and it was the solution to the restlessness...
I bed shared with DD on vacation last month and noticed that she loved the pillows in the bed. I bought her a special crib pillow (it's thin and goes across the full short side of the crib) when we were in France. I don't know if they sell them in that size here in the US, but she loves it and snuggles up against it every night or climbs right on top of it with her whole body.
I'm thinking of getting Darby a little pillow for his crib. He moves around so much all night - I'm hoping it will get him to stay in one spot. So that hopefully we can move him to a toddler bed someday.
My H and I were just this week wondering if a pillow was OK now, since K LOOOOVES laying on them during the day. It's a game, but I think she'd actually like sleeping on one too.
Syd got a full sized adult pillow (flat, not fluffy) at 11 months. She uses it every night, but eventually ends up sleeping at the other end of the crib without it.

DD's pedi and AAP recommend 2. That said, I ordered DD a toddler one yesterday and will probably start using it soonish (I really think she won't stay on it or anything, she's all over the place in her crib!).

Not sure... DD is 17 months and still has no pillow and sleeps in sleepsacks. We don't plan on switching to a toddler bed anytime soon so at some point we will probably give her a pillow in her crib. I know at some point I need to introduce both the pillow and blanket.
Re: when, if ever, do you give your toddler a pillow?
Rylee got her pillow a few months ago... Not sure how much she actually uses it...
She is still in a crib...
