Venues for a first birthday party

DH and I are trying to plan DS's first bday in Nov. and are having a hard time coming up with some ideas for where to have it.  Our house is way too small to have our family and close friends over but we live in NY so Nov. is just way too late to have it in the backyard or outside.  Anyone have any general suggestions for a low key, cheap, venue?

  • Whatever you do, DO NOT have it in an airplane hanger!!  ::shudder::

  • my moms house. Big Smile That is probably where I'll have Addie's first birthday.
  • I wish I could have it at my moms!  I live 3 hours away though :(
  • Do you have a nice park nearby?

  • Maybe a multipurpose room in a church or, since I'm in your area. .

There's a firehouse on Central Avenue in Albany, past fuller rd.  that has small room available for rent.  I've had friends that have had their kid's parties there.

  • Garnet,  we do have a lot of parks but unfortunately in upstate NY it could be gorgeous or it could be snowing.

Pharm, great to see another capital regioner on here! :)  I never thought about a church, that's a great idea and I'll look into the firehouse too!  Thanks again!

  • i love hearing the talk about the capital region.  All my aunts, uncles and cousins live in the capital district.  I was born back there but moved to San Diego when I was 6 years old.  I'm going back in October.  Can't wait for some cooler weather and empire apples!  Hope you find a site.  I think the firehouse sounds pretty cool.
