Natural Child Birth

I am in the 1st phase of TTC this month!  I am hopeful to achieve a quick BFP like most women do!  Once this has been accomplished, I already know that I want to deliver at St. Johns and I am really hoping for a natural child birth.  I know that sometimes things can happen and that it may not be accomplished but I am wondering if any of you experienced a natural birth without an epidural or am I just crazy for even thinking I can do this?

Re: Natural Child Birth

  • DH and I also just started TTC, and I will be looking into epi-free if at all possible.  I've been reading a lot of other boards.  The trimester boards sometimes have discussions about this and the attachment parenting board talks about this a lot.  I also read some of the birth stories to get an idea of what to expect.  I think there are certain classes you can take to help deal with an epi-free birth.  Just lurk at the different boards under "Community"  and there is a lot of helpful information.

Thanks for the information, I will check out the "Community" boards and see what I am able to find!  I will be more than willing to take classes for an epi-free birth experience.  Here's to wishing us both BFPs soon as well as epi-free deliveries! Smile

  • Of course you can do it! I loved my DS's birth.  Most people told me to ask for the epi right away but both my mom and sister had their children naturally so I knew that I could do it.  I was completely med-free and I felt very in control of what was going on. My sister took Bradley classes. I only took regular child birth classes. I also took a prenatal yoga class and that was actually more helpful as far as focusing and positions.

  • You can totally do it! I would definitely go natural all over again! Towards the end, I did get Stadol, but it had worn off by the time it was time for me to push. I did it and I'm a total wimp when it comes to pain. It was a different kind of pain for me. I was afraid it would hurt like a needle, but it really just felt like pressure.
