I typically wear contacts daily but the last few weeks it seems like my eyes cannot focus well and I just can't see like normal with contacts. Glasses are fine. Anyone else experience this?
Are your glasses and contacts the same Rx? I see this frequently (I'm an optometrist). A lot of pregnant women have issues w/ their contacts (dryness, vision changes, intolerance, trouble focusing). I would make sure they're not old, clean them really well tonight, and use rewetting drops (Systane is the best) when you're wearing them. If you're still having issues, call your eye doc.
My glasses and contacts are the same prescription, with my contacts they just get slimmy during the day and tend to get more protein build up on them. I have been cleaning them daily and have had to change them a couple of times sooner than normal. What a strange symptom! I thought I was crazy!

Thanks for the info. My glasses are different as they fix my slight stigmatism and my contacts don't. I just tried a new pair of disposable contacts today and same problem. Lately I've just been wearing my glasses all the time, but I'm not a fan of them. Do some women have to just wear glasses during pregnancy because of this?
Definitely not uncommon. Progesterone can affect the gland which produces your tears. If you're producing less tears, then your lenses will get coated with your natural enzymes and proteins much more quickly than normal==slimy, uncomfortable lenses. You also might try Clear Care solution. It's hydrogen peroxide based and disinfects/cleans better than typical bottled solutions. GL!

Yes! Even after using rewetting drops, infrequent lens wear, and drinking plenty of liquids, some women are too contact lens intolerant too wear them. So you may just have to suck it up and wear glasses! Have you tried daily contact lenses? IMO, they are the most comfortable, healthiest, and most moist lenses on the market. We fit the majority of our patients in them.
During pregnancy the SHAPE of your eye changes, hence why contacts become a problem. Your prescription may also change, also why docs tell you not to get your eyes checked or prescription changed during pregnancy. After my 1st DD, I was able to wear my contacts agian a few weeks post partum.

I haven't tried daily lenses. I will look into that. If all else fails I'll just be wearing glasses for another 7 months...DH will be thrilled! Thanks.
I've had trouble with my contacts since i found i was pregnant also. I asked my eye dr and he told me if they bother me then to just wear my eye glasses.
