Recc. Your Jogger/All Terrain Stroller

Hi Everyone,

I'm popping over from 0-6 to ask for advice on choosing a jogging/all-terrain stroller.  My DH and I do a lot of walking and hiking.  We won't be doing any actual jogging.  We just need something heavy duty enough for many different surfaces and lots of use.  I won't be using it for a few months, but am looking for something that meets the following requirements (or at least some of them)

1.  Travels relatively well over bumpy sidewalks, roads, dirt trails, grass.

2.  Not horribly heavy or bulky.  It would be great if I could get it in and out of the trunk of my sedan without a huge struggle.

3.  I don't care if the front wheel remains fixed in place or swivels, but I'd love to hear what others recommend about that.

4.  I'd love a cup-holder or cup-holder attachment option.

 Many thanks!

  • I just got DH the Kolcraft Contours one, bought it on Amazon for a better price than at BRU or local baby stores.  It is a little large when folded--not sure if it would fit in a sedan trunk since we keep it in DH's SUV.  I do LOVE how well it "drives" and the fact that you can lock the front wheel if you want to.  I found I wanted one that has a front wheel that swivels for easier walking and jogging through our neighborhood.  And yes, it does have a cup holder.

  • We have the Jeep Liberty Limited and love it!  The ride is great, it doesn't jostle my DD around too much.  It is a bit heavy, but I can lift it in and out of my trunk with one hand.  It has 2 cup holders and lots of storage room.

  • We love our Baby Jogger City Elite.  Highly recommend.

    1. Fabulous on all terrains

    2. It's not exactly light but it has the awesome quick fold - I have a really small car and it fits great

    3. Does both.  I usually have it in the swivel position.

    4. Comes with parent console.  I place my water bottles in there.  I think there's an actual cup attachment you can buy.

  • We have the Mountain Buggy Urban.

    1)  Rides awesome due to 12 inch air filled wheels

    2)  One of the lightest on the market at 22 lbs.  Folds down flatter than other brands.  Made of aluminum.

    3)  Front wheel can lock or swivel.  You just twist the little thing in the front.

    4)  No cup holder comes with it, but you can buy an attachment.

  • Wow, you all are so helpful and fast!  Many thanks-- I'll look into all of these.
  • I love our Bob Revolution. I take that thing on hikes all the time and it does great. It is kind of pricy, but REI has it on sale for 20% off every few months and so does BRU (online only).

  • We have the Bumbleride Indie and absolutely love it. We don't do any jogging with it but go on long walks over bumpy sidewalks and dirt trails and it handles beautifully. It's not terribly heavy and fits easily into our sedan trunk. What really sold me on it is that all the "extras" that you usually have to pay for (i.e. cup holder, car seat adapter bar etc) came with it.

  • I have the baby jogger city mini.  It's smaller than some of the others that were mentioned.  It's 16.8 lbs and I use it as my everyday shopping stroller, as well as my walking stroller.  I purchased the parent console that has a cup holder in it.  I LOVE the stroller!

  • We also have the BOB revolution and love it.  It is a bit pricy, but I would walk everyday and our sidewalks are awful!

-it doesn't have a cupholder, but I bought the attachment and it works well

-about being bulky: I carry it with DS up and down a flight of stairs almost every day

-I thought I saw a post that it is currently being sold at REI for a huge discount.

  • Love our Bob Revolution! It is so smooth, easy to fold and DD loves it. Worth every penny, plus they have a great resale.

We plan on buying a dualie and keeping our single once baby #2 comes. We love it that much!
