DH and I are considering cloth diapers especially while I am home with the baby. We figured we would at least give it a try in the beginning, but use disposables anytime we were leaving the house.
I'm still in 1st tri, but only for a couple more weeks.
We will not be doing cloth diapers as I don't think the daycare we are considering allows them. I would have liked to as I know it helps potty train faster. I was in them as a child, as was my sister.
QOTD: No. We are planning on using disposables, although I guess it's early and that could possibly change.
We had our NT Scan this morning. The measurement was great - 1.2mm. Now we're just waiting on the bloodwork. Also, the doctor asked us what gender we thought the baby was and if we were planning on finding out. We said we were thinking girl, and that we were definitely going to find out. He said that he is 90% certain our baby is a girl! I'm measuring a few days ahead, and I know it's still early, but I guess the baby was in a good position to tell. Not going to paint the room pink just yet, but still very exciting!
We thought about it, but I don't think we will be able to. My mom will be watching my nephew and our little one, and that would be really crazy for her, so I think we will stick to disposables.
Finally hit 13 weeks this week and outed myself on FB! It was great, and everyone was so wonderful about it!
QOTD: Yes, we definitely plan on cloth diapering. Well, we're going to try it and see how it goes. I've already done a ton of research on different types of cloth diapers/brands/etc. and I'm actually kinda excited about it. As someone else said, they can be really cute!
I can't wait to be officially out of 1st tri. Tomorrow is my NT and tonight I will finally be able to tell my mom (haven't seen her in two months!).
Wow! I'm shocked at the number of no's to the QOTD. We will definitely be using some type of cloth diaper. I can't even imagine throwing all of those disposables in a landfill. If you're interested, check out gdiapers.com (I have no skin-in-the-game, I just like the product). They are a cotton outer cover, a snap-in plastic liner, and then either flushable or washable liners.
Probably not. I read somewhere that due to all of the washing it might be as environmentally destructive as disposable. I am considering using 7th generation disposables. My friend is using them now and she really likes them.
QOTD- We're still talking about it. My mother only used cloth diapers with my youngest brother and after talking to her, I may end up on that path.
Today is my second OB appt and I hope to finally hear a heartbeat. We were promised a doppler at the first appt, but the doctor was very late and seemed like she forgot about it. I have been on pins and needles waiting to hear/see this LO! Our NT scan is also scheduled for this week- DH & I are so excited!
yes! we will be using CD! They are cheaper, better for the baby's butt and cute! and as this is our first we will be able to reuse for however many we are having. Using prefolds and covers!
Yes, we are planning on using cloth diapers. The only thing we haven't 100% decided on is whether or not we will use disposible in the very beginning and switch or use them all the way through.

I'm definitely considering cloth diapering, but unfortunately I have to deal with ILs being adament that it's a PITA. This is based on their experience with cloth diapers 28 years ago. I need to do more research, but I'm pretty sure we're going to give it a try.
Yes! I'm pretty much set on it. Its so much cheaper and also better for the environment. Also I have heard it prevents a lot of diaper rashes and kids potty train earlier in cloth. I am planning on staying at home though, it would be much more difficult if the baby was going to be at a daycare.
also, my due date needs to be moved to March 27 from March 20.

We had a nice weekend - went to dinner with some friends friday and told them our news, another couple saturday and told them our news, and then poker on sunday and told them our news. So lots of celebrating! We told all of them that this is still not wide open info, mainly because I want to wait until we hear the heartbeat on the dopplar friday before it gets announced to the world. we're just using this week to tell those that we want to tell in person. It's been a major relief to get it out there, particularly with those who know us best. I
also told my boss (actually, I told my boss a while ago, but I told his boss, who is our editor-in-chief). He was really supportive, and said to just let him know what I might need. I also told him my plans to take 3 months (two months paid maternity leave, one month unpaid disability), and my hope to work from home one day a week after I return to work. He said fine, though he'd need to get official approval from the powers that be (didn't expect a problem). I really think that one day (with the baby still in daycare mind you) will do wonders for my sanity, and keeping my head above water.
QOTD:Are you considering cloth diapering your baby?
No cloth diapers for me. I'd love to say I'm doing my part for the environment, but with such a strain on time I can't imagine adding that to the (literal) laundry list of things to keep on top of.
Actually, I am in favor of the concept, but not so much the execution. My mom used them, and I was 6 when my sister was born...I still remember how gross I thought it was! We might use them around the house, then have disposables for when we are out. Handier that way. So excited I get to switch over to 2nd tri permanently in 2 more days!!!
QOTD: I considered it but in reality disposables are the better option for me. My sister in law has a 1-1/2 yr old and my mom watches him in the day while she and my brother are at work. My sister in law loves using the cloth diapers but granted she isn't really washing them, they leave that to my mom. This I think is not very nice of them. So since the first month my mom was watching her grandson, I decided that disposables was better. The last thing I want my mom thinking is that she'd have to wash my child's diapers and I know I get tired washing clothes regularly. So this would be a few less things to wash.
Hello and happy Monday to all! Had my second OB appt this morning and wasn't completely prepared Had a pap smear and blood work done... fun stuff. The worst part about it all was the fact that my OB had a family practice Dr following him today and let him do the pap... ouch! Not as gentle as my OB for sure. Otherwise, everything looks good as far as I can tell. He didn't try to doppler the HB today (disappointing) because he said LO is too small at this point....
QOTD: Are you considering cloth diapering your baby?
Yes... I am. I think we'll start with regular disposable diapers and then I'm hopeful to do some cloth diapering. I need to continue to do some research though.
We are considering Cd'ing...it is so much less expensive. I will be home with the LO until almost 6 mo. I am thinking of cd'ing until then and when the LO is at the nanny use dispos. and cd at night....we will see, DH says fine but I don't think he quite unnderstands the whole thing.
I thought about it, but DH isn't into it. He doesnt' want to deal with cleaning them. He likes the idea of just throwing away the diaper. Chances are we wont use them.

I'm still over here on the 1st Tri board and cannot wait to join you over there on 2nd Tri.
We will use disposable diapers. We did with our 1st child.

Cloth Diapers?
We will not be using cloth diapers for two reasons.
1) I will still be working full time and will probably be using a day care part time. I feel like it is unfair to make someone else deal with that.
2) My mom used CD on us because she could not afford anything else and after a lot of experience with them, I would rather not. ha.

No, we do not plan on using cloth diapers.
Yes, we are considering cloth diaparing. My cousin's wife did it, and had a great experience. She's been a wonderful source of information for me.
We'll probably use disposable while LO is in the newborn phase, then we'll switch to cloth afterwards.
We're looking into using Mommy's Touch all-in-ones for the day and pocket diapers for overnight.
