We used frozen grapes. I kept a bowl in the freezer and would just pop 3 or 4 in the feeder as needed.
What are you nervous about?
ETA: yes, it did help. He loved it, and it was the easiest way to get him to chew on something cold. He didn't really want to hold a teether for some reason. I guess the taste of the fruit helped hold his interest.

Frozen grapes! GENIUS!
lol. Thanks. It's zero prep (besides washing and de-stemming), which is nice. And it seemed to work well - DS would chew for a bit, and then they'd thaw a little and pop open, so he'd get the grape juice/flavor. I'll have to remember to do it again as he starts getting more teeth.
We use the mesh feeder a lot - DS's favorite is mango (well, that's his favorite anyway). We buy bags of frozen organic mango chunks and throw them in there - it not only keeps him busy for quite a while, but it definitely seems to help with the teething pain.
DD LIVES for frozen mango. I just chop one up and store the amount that would fit in one mesh feeder in individual baggies in the freezer. One mango gets me about 8-10 servings. She has it almost every night!
