PCOS & pregnancy tests question

Hi!  Haven't been on this board for a while b/c my DD is over a year now.  I went through PCOS trying to get pregnant for her - did Clomid with no sucess and got pregnant first try with injectibles.

DH and I decided I'd come off BC b/c we were going to start TTC in October.  I've been off BC for about 3 months and got 3 BFP's yesterday using three different brands of pregnancy tests.

I know that PCOS affects the effectiveness of the OPK's because you're LH is always elevated.  My question is - does PCOS affect the results of a pregnancy test?  Or am I really, truly, an infertile turned fertile myrtle?

TIA!

Re: PCOS & pregnancy tests question

  • I hope you are truly pregnant, if that's the case CONGRATS :::throws confetti::: I don't know about PCOS affecting a pg-test.  It's based on hcg not LH.  So unless I'm totally misinformed, start prepping the nursery.  H&H

  • The LH hormone is different from the HCG homone that is detected in pregnancy tests. I really doubt your positives are false! If you are concerned, ask for a beta at your doctor.

    Congrats!

  • I just posted on the PCOS check-in...but I had no A/F after a confirmed O cycle, was waiting and waiting, so I could start  Clomid next cycle, so I decided to POAS, saw a barely there, wishful thinking line, tested again yesterday, even lighter, so called RE and I have a cautiously BFP with Beta.  So, I would say now, to you, yes, a line is a line (no matter how light and PCOS), Congrats!!
  • PCOS doesn't at all affect a pregnancy test. Congrats! I'm so happy for you that you don't have to go through it all again!
