I sooo under charged...

I've been trying lots of new ways to bring in money. A logical next step with my photography business was to start doing photo announcements. I did some for a friend, completely custom designed. Charged her $50 for 60 announcements. Then I went online and checked what people were charging for this... Yeah, it averages $1.75 for the amount of personalizing she did....

Oh well, live & learn..

Could you help me learn from my mistake? what did you pay for announcements and/or b-day invites.

  • Did you take the pics too?

I paid $20 for a lovely nestie to make K's birth announcements.  I emailed pics, she sent me a j-peg.

  • what did they look like? as a person starting up - i think that was even slightly overcharging. unless they were *amazing*
  • I charge 23.99 for 25

I do custom designs but then I just use that to add to my other items for sale, so it really forces me to keep designing which I like.

I dont do announcements and invites for "money" because the weddings is where I make "money" I do it for fun and to get my creative energy out...

  • I took the pics too, and I'm swore to keep  what they look like a secret until she sends them out.

Here's a proof she didn't pick. And the pictures aren't as cute as the ones in hers.

  • I think its fine, prices vary depending on where you get them, I ususally do shutterfly...it depends on the design, but 25-30 bucks for 25, and you can customize the wording etc
