I am so freaking annoyed with this bank. They put random holds on my deposits for no reason at all. When they were WAMU, they put holds on the first few checks because I had just opened my account. Fine, I understand that. Then WAMU joined Chase. They put holds on my checks when that little announcement was made. FINE, I get it, "new" bank is kinda like a new account, so holds again. No big deal. Now they are doing it again! I have had this account for several years already. Why the F would they need to hold my deposits??? Do they do this for everyone? All they can tell me when I question them is that the "computer" says it's going to put a hold and it might be because the payer's bank can't confirm enough funds in their account and all I could do is go to the bank where the check was from and cash it there. So last payday I raised a stink with my employer, they checked their account and had waaay enough funds to pay my check. I am so annoyed but I don't want to deal with opening another account at a different bank. Ugh!

Re: NBR: anyone have Chase bank?
I can understand where you are coming from - I also have Chase now and the transition is certainly ridiculous. But - there is not much you can do about it except change to another bank.
We had a HORRIBLE experience with Chase when someone cleaned out our bank account from one of their "Secure ATMS". Yes, we were mad that our money was stolen, but we were most upset with the way Chase treated us after the fact and how difficult it was to get the situation resolved.
As soon as it was resolved we closed our account and moved on to another bank.
And yes, the "hold" thing was super annoying.
hmmm. I have been with chase for about 10 years now and am satisfied with them. I wouldn't say I "love" them because after all it is a bank, but I have never had any serious issues. I have always had direct deposit and have never had to wait an extra 24 hours...on payday the money is there. And on the rare occasion when I do make an actual deposit, if it is a check it does take about 2 days to clear but I usually don't need it that second anyway. As for transfers, when I transfer funds from my ING acct to chase (or vice versa), that usually takes about 2 days because of the different banks. Have lost my card 3 times in the 10 years, one of those times it was stolen and Chase really helped me deal with a shopping spree at Old Navy that I was not a part of. They also gave me all the instructions on notifying the credit agencies and doing the fraud alert. Another time I had a mix up and was overdrawn. They charged me twice ($30 each) then a week later I got a letter saying they were waiving the fees as a curtosey (sp?) to me.
So, all in all it has been satisfying experience. When they start transferring free money into my account maybe then I can say I LOVE THEM!
Sorry all you ladies are having issues, that sucks.
This. But they even hold direct deposit for 24 hours, which they are not supposed to do. I hate chase and even though we have had the same account for 9 years we are going to change banks. I can't take them any more. And their customer service sucks. They are completely unhelpful and do not care if you decide to leave the bank.
