Infertility

***fallbride***

That is great that Friday is your last day there!  (Although maybe bittersweet too, since I'm sure you'll miss your doctor!)  I am still waiting to hear back from them because I need to go in tomorrow morning for my bloodwork and stuff...I called yesterday but it was an 'answering service' and they told me I'd hear back from the office this morning.  I hadn't heard anything yet so I called them a few minutes ago and am supposed to get a call back soon.  ?  I didn't realize it'd be so hard to set up an appt for bloodwork, when they only do it from 6:30-7:30am anyway.

I had a quick question for you though--Who performs the HSG there?  Is it the doctor himself, or does a nurse do it?  I will definitely take as much Advil as they will let me take ahead of time.  I was hoping to be able to go in this Saturday to get it done, but I think I remember them saying they only do those during the week?  If so it'll have to be Friday.

Also, I read your latest blog update--what great pictures!  Big Smile

  • Oh and I forgot to mention...depending on DH's 2nd SA results (and my test results) we may continue trying on our own for a few months before we start IUI's in either December or January.  We'll see.

  • That's so weird that you need a call back to schedule cd3 stuff.  I always just called and said, X is my day 3 and I need to come in for bloodwork and ultrasound and the receptionist just marked me down and said okay, 6:30-7:30 is our monitoring hours.  Maybe because you're getting the HSG too and a new patient they need to wait for the nurses to get out of their panel they do for lunch.  I would call back around 3 just to make sure if you haven't heard anything.

I never had an HSG, I had a SHG (saline sonogram) since I was doing IVF and my tubes didn't matter as much as my uterus.  Dr. M did my SHG so I would think he would do your HSG too.  The two doctors always do the ultrasounds too, the nurses are mostly there to record the findings during the u/s's (they bring a laptop in the room and type the info into your file as the RE does the u/s) and to answer questions after your appointments if you call up there.  I think weekends are only for monitoring, IUI's, ER's and ET's (IVF).  That's probably why they said they only do the HSG's during the week.  My SHG was during the week too.

I'll keep my fingers crossed that your second SA is better and the first was just a fluke.  :)  Hopefully the couple months on your own will work and you won't need the IUI's!

BTW, my husband and I are usually up there around 7am for monitoring.  I'm about 90% sure Dr. M is there that day, so maybe I'll see you.  :)  I'm bringing a bunch of cookies for the staff as a thank you, so I'll be the girl with the bag of sweets. lol

  • Yeah I don't know what the big deal is...It's now 2pm and I still haven't heard anything???  I will give them another hour before I call.  I don't want to seem like I'm pestering them, but how hard is it to schedule an appt for CD 3 when I started calling on CD 1 like they asked me to?

I will definitely look for the lady with all the cookies if I do go in on Friday!  haha...I would prefer to go in on Saturday, but DH can adjust his schedule a bit to go in to work afterwards on a Friday too.  I really want him to go with me.

  • That's so strange.  Hopefully you got ahold of them and got it figured out.  I know if they're really busy in the morning they'll be kinda late on returning calls, but I usually always hear something by 3.

I had my husband go with me for my SHG too and I'm really glad I did.  I had a LOT of cramping and it was way worse than I thought it was going to be and I just broke down afterwards.  I felt so foolish, but it hit me about then that we were actually doing all of this and I was totally overwhelmed.  Most women don't have a problem at all with those tests though, I was just in the minority that had a ton of cramping and pain.  :/

My husband usually plans for appointments by just making sure he doesn't have any meetings right at 9 on the days we have to be there.  As long as they're not super packed, we're usually in and out of there within 30 minutes for monitoring.  My SHG only took about 15 minutes.  :)  Good luck!
