Infertility

clomid & LP

I took 50mg of clomid cd3-7 last cycle before doing B2B IUI.  I ended up getting AF 11dpiui, which seems early to me.  This was 1-2 days shorter than my normal LP.  I thought clomid was supposed to make your LP longer. Did anyone else have this problem?  Any ideas on what would cause this to happen? Dr. Google isn't giving me much info. TIA.

Re: clomid & LP

  • I had the same problem...started spotting 6 dpo!  ugh!  my doc is putting me on progesterone this cycle to try and hold off AF and give any eggs a chance to implant.  I think if it is under 10 days they consider it a problem, but you might want to talk to your doc about it anyways!  good luck!

  • So sorry about AF :(

Were you on progesterone? My LP was crazy long (17 days) but I attribute it to the progesterone, not the clomid. My p4 still tested low 7dpo with clomid only (started progesterone at 7dpo).

We are adopting! Currently waiting for our domestic infant adoption match.

Thanks. I am going to ask him about progesterone when I go in for my u/s.

  • Clomid in theory should give you a stronger corpus luteum, and therefore could help lengthen your LP. I have not heard of it shortening it

I wasn't, but I think maybe I need to be.  I am going to ask my dr.

  • on clomid, my LP ranged from 10 days to 16 days...    and i never got a good explanation as for why, but nobody seemed too concerned.     but the longer i was on clomid, the longer my LPs would be.
Brought to you by IVF, ICSI, limited fert, and oocyte cryopreservation.

That is interesting that it varied so much.  Hopefully, mine will get longer too.   Thanks for the info.
