Question about what happens after miscarriage

I began to miscarry naturally last Sunday (Aug 16th) and it seems like it might be over now.  I called the dr this morning to find out what comes next and they had me go for b/w to make sure my HCG levels are dropping.  I guess my question is how do I know when to expect my first AF after all of this?  I forgot to ask when I talked to the nurse this morning, so I thought I would ask you all since some of you have been thru this before.

Re: Question about what happens after miscarriage

  • I am so sorry about your loss.

I bled for 11 days and AF came 20 days later.

You should also consider posting this in TTCAL.  The ladies are great and I believe you'll get a lot more responses.

Thank you TTCAL and IF board. "Friendship is born at that moment when one person says to another: What! You too? I thought I was the only one." C.S. Lewis

  • First, I just want to say that I am so sorry for your loss.  It is such a horrible thing to have to go thru.  Hugs to you right now.

I had a natural m/c at 5 weeks.  My post m/c AF was late for me but still within the "normal" range (I think it came at like CD32 and I am usually a CD27-28 kind of girl).  My RE told me that if I didn't get AF after 5-6 weeks post m/c then he would want to see me again to make sure I didn't have any remnants in my uterus.

The return of AF will also depend on how high your HCG levels are.  My levels never got super high b/c I m/c so early.  Hopefully your RE can give you some more answers.

  • I'm sorry for your loss. I spotted off and on for about 3 weeks. AF never came after my m/c. 8 weeks later I took provera to bring in on. I am not regular anyway.

So I count the miscarriage like I would a normal AF and just start counting from there?

Well, I spotted for a few days b/c the actual miscarriage started.  I counted the day I had bright red blood/ tissue/ clots as CD1 and counted from there.  Hope this helps!

  • I can't answer question but wanted to send you some huge (((HUGS)))
