I just met a little girl with this name and really liked it. We would never use since neither DH nor I is Irish (and we already have a list of names ready in case we ever have another girl), but I just wanted to throw it out there and see what people think of it and whether they know anyone with this name IRL.

I like it.  My mom has a friend, who has a  daughter a few years older then me, is named Orla.  My mom and her friend are straight from Ireland though!

I know a girl named Orli (I think that's a Hebrew name?)... but no one named Orla.

My old boss (from Ireland) was an Orla.  Also, believe it or not but there is an Orla, Texas.

I had a coworker named Orla - she was from Ireland, where it's pretty common.  But she went to highschool here and everyone called her Orla the Orca, even though she wasn't very chunky.

I agree with this.  I've never known an Orla but I knew and Orli in high school and the boys would make fun of her and call her Oral Orli all the time.
