How many bottles did you register for and how many in each size? I have been told to get more of the bigger ones but wanted to ask what MoM's were using so I get what I need. And do need that many nipples as you have bottles and how many of each diferent size nipple Each time I go to the bottle section to register I don't know what to do! Thanks!
Re: # of bottles/nipples and sizes
I have 12 smaller Avent bottles and 14 larger. As far as nipple & sizes, I've just used the ones that came with the bottles. My DD uses the size 1 nipples (comes with smaller Avent bottles), because she sucks too hard and she can't swallow fast enough. DS has been on the size 2 (that come with the larger Avent bottles) because he is such a slow eater.
Are you going to exclusively pumping or giving formula? If you are planning of bfing, I wouldn't get too many of the smaller bottles. I ended up getting more when I realized that bfing didn't work for my kids and I started exclusively pumping. But if bfing works for you, you really won't need many smaller ones. My babies are 11 wks and have basically out grown the smaller bottles.
In the beginning, I wouldn't buy too many. I registered for a zillion different bottles, but only a few of each so I could try them out and see what they like. I'm glad I did that because we went through Soothie, BreastFlow, Dr. Brown's, Avent, Evenflo VentAires and Adiris before we finally figured out they like the cheapie $1 evenflo bottles the best!
Because the bottles they like are so cheap, we were able to get a ton of them as to avoid bottle washing every single night. When they were on the small ones, we had 15 of them. Now that they're on the big ones we have 48 bottles. This means we only have to wash every 4th night. They come with the slow nipples and I bought enough medium flow nipples for all of them. I'm hoping to stick with those until they're done since we do still bf some.
As a bonus, I've repurposed the small evenflo's as pumping bottles (they fit the PISA) so I don't have to wash them as much.
After a PCOS dx, 18 months of trying, 3 rounds of clomid and 2 follistim IUIs our babies are here!
