experience with sittercity.com?

Hi Ladies- Reposting on this board b/c I know you all have such good experience/insight. I noticed sittercity.com advertised on thebump and checked it out. we're looking for some help a few days a week. DH now has some great consulting work that he can do from home but need a hand with the little guy. we currently have a friend sister coming 2 days/week and she is great but heading back to college in 2 weeks. i'm nervous about these kinds of sites but this one can really help us. any experience?

Re: experience with sittercity.com?

  • What about contacting a local college's Early Childhood Department to see if you can advertise there? I'm sure they'd be able to help especially since it's the same field.  Perhaps try PSU, DCCC, etc.

  • We found our first nanny through sittercity.com. While there were a lot of responses to weed through, I found four candidates to interview and of those, three were fantastic. I would recommend it, just know that you will have to be pro-active and really do a thorough interview, check references, and take advantage of the background check that they offer (which you would want to do under any circumstances). And trust your gut!
