Pregnant after 35

face breakouts ... help?!?!

Pimples and zits have always been a part of my life since near the end of elementary school. I don't have really bad breakouts and was lucky to go through high school with minor amount of pimples that most guys mistakenly took as freckles. (I laugh every time I remember one guy in school telling me how cute my freckles were) The only curse I had was around the time of AF would arrive I'd get one of those gigantic zits on my chin that was like a neon sign or a magnet for everyone's eyes to stare at.

Well now that I am pregnant, I seem to start the week just fine but by the weekend my nose breakouts giving me a lovely bright red nose with the occasional whitehead. I remember reading somewhere using witch hazel but I never found that helpful. I dread every weekend because of my bright red nose.

Does anyone have any suggestions? Crying

  • I love the skin care products I use!! My skin mostly breaks out when I get my period & I had been struggling with the right products for years... fortunately it is great during pregnancy ; ) But this is my last pregnancy.

I use Paula's Choice.  You can only buy it online at www.paulaschoice.com. but I have not had a pimple/breakout since I started using it three years ago & it fits within my price budget since I am staying home with my kids.  The stuff lasts forever too!

  • I have problem skin too, and I've used just on my problem areas, a lactic acid peel 30% solution. I got mine at perfectpeelsolutions.com . This site sells some very heavy duty peels not suitable for pregnant women. However, glycolic acid ( made from sugar) and lactic acid (made from milk) appear to be safe from what I've read. The lactic acid is the mildest peel they sell and its inexpensive.

I just use a drop of lactic acid peel on a qtip on my problem areas once a day, and its awesome. My bottle has lasted for over 6 months and its still halfway full.

I used to spend a small fortune on deep pore cleansing facials once a month, but this lactic acid treatment has pretty much stopped the need for facials monthly.

  • Thanks for the tips. I'm going to look into that. I used to use proactiv when it came out and stopped and went back to it a year later and it just didn't give me the same results. I've tried murad and skinid but only have had limited success. Plus, just like proactiv, it's like a membership thing. You can't buy one set and be done with it or as you need. They do those automatic shipments and you have to becareful that its not done monthly or so because when you least expect it and it's usually when you can not spare the extra cash that a shipment arrives.

Thank you for the ideas. I have some hope now.
