Want to share an idea I had for expecting Mommas.

Since we're doing this for Sadie and I thought I'd share the idea here as your LO's will be arriving any day now. It's kind of "kill two birds with one stone" for me as I need to "do" something with my wedding dress as well.

We saved all of Sadie's cutest outfits from her first year, not everything just the cute or memorable outfits (so her 1st halloween shirt and 1st thanksgiving shirt that says "Im a little turkey" and her Christmas dress etc). I'm going to take them to a seamstress and have her make a patchwork quilt out of the clothes using my wedding dress as the backing and the satin ribbons from the dress as the outside border. I think we'll save it and give it to her for her 16th or 18th birthday. Or heck, maybe I'll just hang it in her room.

The only special outfit that's not going in the quilt is the one she wore home from the hospital. I'm putting that with her birth announcement and her 1st pair of shoes in a shadow box type thing and hanging it.

I do need to find a quilter in central Illinois though if anybody can recommend somebody near Springfield or Edwardsville areas. I have some emails sent out but who knows if they will pan out.

What a great way to be able to "keep" all those outfits without finding room to store them!!  love it-- thanks for sharing!!

We were going to make a quilt out of my dress, but instead made DDs' baptismal gown.  It was absolutely gorgeous.

My mom did this for my sister and I when we were young and we both still have ours.  It is fun to look back at old pictures and then see the quilt with all the clothes.  I will treasure this treasure FOREVER
