Obviously this decision is up to you and your DH but I personally don't like it. When I first saw this thread, I thought you meant race as in ethnicity, lol. I would find a car type or race car driver or something and name him after that instead.

haha- that's what I though too!
Liked the idea of Chase...but Race...NO THANKS! Sorry...I would keep looking.

I'm sorry, but when I think of "race," I instantly think of ethnicity and background (Chinese, African American, etc.). I also think of racism and racial discrimination. Car racing doesn't even cross my mind.
Here are some other names related to racing or cars. A lot of this will depend on what kind of cars your husband is into.
Pace, Indy, Ford, McLaren, Dayton, Martin (like Aston Martin), Carson, Carter, Whelen (all american series), Bentley...
I hate it but People name their kids Cash, Chase, and Chance and those are so terrible that Race could work also. My neighbor's name is Run so anything works. I don't think it should.

Yeah. This. My immediate thought is "Is his middle name Riot?"
Re: Race?
Not a fan. I can appreciate unique names, but this one sounds like it has political undertones, not one that honors the car love.
What about Cash instead? NMS, but it works for Jessica Alba's man.
this.
Omg, yes, this - very much this.

I like it....i really LOVE original names. Although my boy name is Sobe as in South beach where we were married and August for a girl.
I think Race is cool
Why would you do this to your child?
I like the pp's suggestion of Chase.
I thought this was going to be a thread about ethnicity and/or racism. That would be a truly terrible name to have.
I also like the suggestions of Pace(y) and Chase. Or what about a race driver-esque name? Elliott or Gordon or Dale...even Andretti.
I like unique names, but I am not sure I can get on board with Race. I would keep it on the list, but keeping looking.
