Babies DO NOT decrease movement because they are running out of room. They don't do it at 28 weeks. They don't do it at 38 weeks. Their movements may change--less kicks and more rolls, for example. But the amount and pattern of movement should stay the same.
It is normal for babies to have days where they are less active than usual. It's normal for them to go several hours without really moving (they are sleeping). But you should still be feeling wakeful periods at least every few hours, with the baby moving 10+ times in 2 hours while they are awake.
If you ever feel decreased movement and your baby does not pass a kick count, CALL YOUR OB. It is NOT normal. Don't rely on your home doppler. Don't wait until the next day. In 50% of stillbirths, the mom noticed decreased movement first. Calling your doctor could literally save your baby's life.

You and I think way too much alike.
This is what I was thinking. It's good advice, yes, but I think I've read it 8 times now.
Care to clarify?
You girls are both ahead of me, but I am feeling the same way...
wife to joe 2.2.08. mama to noah 9.5.09.
After multiple m/c's, a MTHFR diagnosis and the Lord calling both of our hearts in the same direction, we're adopting!

I feel the same way , obviously not as long as you all but still.. seen it alot.. you'd think people would call the doctor when they notice changes.. AND THEY STILL FRIGGIN' dont... UGh
Ditto.
Well, the info in your post is definitely useful. But it's been posted.... like, a lot. I used to think the, "Hey- 3rd tri! You need to know this..." PSA posts were groundbreaking but at this point I have seen them all several times. I think. LOL

We really do! LOL! I feel like we're always quoting eachother like- Yep!

Wait, are you ladies annoyed because I am trying to make sure people don't mistake a sign of life-threatening pregnancy complications with a normal part of the third trimester? Really?
I mean that I totally agree with this post and, because I have been around have seen all the "should I call the dr?" posts. YES, call the doctor!!
No, not annoyed that you are saying it. Just annoyed that I have to have been on this board long enough to have heard it so many times. Keep saying what needs to be said.
No. I'm annoyed that I'm still pregnant. I'm just crabby is all. Like I said, it's good advice.
Hmmm... missed the part where anyone said they were annoyed. What I said was simple and shouldn't be taken for more than what it is. I have personally been on this board long enough to see this type of post a lot. Of course it's useful to someone who is newer or experiencing this for the first time. Never knocked you for the post in general.
Definitely don't think I want people to miss a life threatening pregnancy complication. The girls here know me better than that.

See, my clinic doesn't do this. I asked about kick counts, and they said I'm still too early (29 weeks tomorrow) to start that. I have had MANY decreased-movment concerns, but they said I wouldn't necessarily feel the baby every couple hours. I have gone a couple days without feeling him, a few times, and they said it was normal. I've never felt comfortable with that answer, though.
Nobody said they were annoyed - just that we have seen it before. If this is news to somebody, then that is great.
That is how I took it. You and I have been reading the same stuff since about week 28.
LOL Usually when people on the bump say they have read something 8 times before, it means "so stop posting it!" And I was confused why someone would have a problem with my post.
We non-pregnant ladies get crabby too. Like when our babies are teething and don't sleep for a week.
I see what you're saying. I guess you're right. No. No problem with your post. For those of us that have seen it a lot, we probably just need to have our babies.
