table foods for 9 month olds?

My girls are 9 months and I am looking for some suggestions of table foods to start introducing to them. They are trying stage 3 foods and have had puffs, cheerios and those baby mum mum cracker things. Is there anything else that I can start giving them? Their dr. suggested a couple things-well cooked pasta, thinly sliced deli meat- but I feel like they are still too young for those. What did you give your 9 month old? Also, how often did they have juice/water? Thanks ladies!!

Re: table foods for 9 month olds?

  • My girls will be 10 mths on Sunday.  I give them puffs, french fries in small pieces, pancakes cut up, small pieces of chicken, meatballs,  pastena

I havent tried pasta yet. When I give them the above I cut up in small pieces and just leave on their highchair tray. most ends up on their lap or the floor but they like to feed themselves and some does make it into their mouths

I also give them mini popsicles. They are slow melting and tiny! I give it to them after thier dinner and they love it!

I dont give them juice since my ped said it is just wasted calories and they are better off with their formula still. Water I give them if we are out and its hot but they dont really drink much of it. I just bought the yogurt juices to try with their sippy cups. They dont drink much from the cup but my pedi said to try to transition them now onto the sippy cup so by the time they are 1 years old they will be off the bottle.

  • My boys love cut up avocado, kiwi, cheddar cheese, deli thin turkey/chicken, applesauce, mandarin oranges as far as the "uncooked" foods.

They also really love cambells soups such as Chicken & Stars (drain out the liquid), Lentils, & Vegetarian Vegetable.  Also try the different versions of mac-n-cheese, rice (there is a brand that has a full serving of veggies in in), mini-organic blueberry waffles (butter & heat in microwave befoe cutting up), and mixed vegetables (can of peas & carrots).

Hope this helps!  It's such a struggle to know what you can & can't give them, on top of what will they like.  My twin boys just turned 10 months so I'm right there with you!
