What is a labor buddy?

Just curious to know what a labor buddy is - I've seen this on lots of sigs and wasn't sure what it meant?

Some one that will let everyone on the bump know when you go into labor and have your baby. It is also someone you connect with and you chat about what is going on with your pregnancies.
