Pregnant after a Loss

Poll: How much do you exercise?

When I was at the dr today he said to keep my heart rate at under 140 bpm and to reallllly cut back on my weights.  I usually exercise at least 5 days a week and I'm thinking just to going to every other day.  Biking and walking I guess.  I normally do eliptical but I don't know how I'd do that but keep my heart rate down.

How much do you exercise?  Any specific doctor's orders that you follow?

Re: Poll: How much do you exercise?

  • I am still working out at least 4 times a week (I try for 5 but some days i just want a nap instead)

I use the elipticle a lot, in fact I like it because I can watch my HR on the monitor and make sure I keep it under 140.  I usually just do a higher incline at a slower pace, that way I am still feeling it but not going crazy.

  • I usually swim 2 times a week, pilates 2 times a week, and yoga 1-2 times a week.  I love the yoga/pilates because it really gives you the flexibility and tools you need to stay in good shape, but I also love my instructors!

I don't worry about heartrate because I am not doing anything very strenuous.  I say do what feels comfortable and stay active!

  • Every dr. is different about the heart rate thing. I do try to stay close to 140 but I listen to my body. Usually once I get close to 150, I need to slow down anyhow.

I don't exercise as much as I'd like, but its a time thing for me. I can't do the morning (I get up early enough as it is) and after work isn't an option b/c I have to pick my daughter up from daycare and feed her dinner, bath, books, etc. My only chance is during lunch and its hard if I have drs appts or meetings. Lately, I've only been working out around 2 times a week. My goal is 3 days a week.

  • My doctor ordered no exercise until the second trimester to be safe since I had a m/c.  But after that then she said I can do elliptical, walking, or sitting on a bike for cardio and light weights only.  She told me not to go over 150 bpm.

She said yes doctors tell you it's okay but if I were her sister she would order me not to until after 2nd trimester so that's what I'm doing.

  • i didn't do anything during first tri because i was scared, plus i was so nauseous all the time i didn't feel like it.  during months 4 and 5 i walked a lot, but around month 6 i started cramping a lot.  so now i just swim, nothing too strenuous, just to keep me moving around!

  • I'm walking 4-5 days a week.  No special orders!
  • I'm walking 4-5 times a week and usually about 2 miles. I was riding my bike now and then until 2 weeks ago but my back and tailbone can't handle that any more.

  •      I didn't work out during the first trimester mainly because I was nervous.  My doctor hasn't mentioned any heart rate restrictions, but she did say that I should listen to my body and stop if I don't feel good.  She did tell me not to do any exercises on my back.  For the past four weeks I've been working with a trainer who specializes in prenatal fitness once a week, and I'm aiming to get to gym on my own two other days.  So far reality has been that I go once with my trainer, once on my own, and then take a walk on two other days.  I'm hoping to do more in the next few weeks and start prenatal yoga before I start getting bigger and feel more uncomfortable.

  • I used to do cardio 5 days a week and strength training 2-3 days a week.  My doc also said to keep my heart rate under 140 and not lift as much weight.  I asked her about ab workouts and she said it's okay, but it will eventually become uncomfortable.

Since my BFP, I've cut back significantly.  However, I had some spotting and didn't want to over do it.  Today I went on a walk at lunch and after work.  I plan on starting back up with the elipitical and weight training.  If I lower the incline on the eliptical I can keep it my heart rate around 130.

  • I workout 5-6 days a week, but in a much lighter fashion. If I go to the gym, I do the elliptical and light weights. Otherwise I go for a 3 mile walk or do a pregnancy workout video (either yoga or full body workout).  I laughed the first time I did the video at how easy it seemed...only to find myself so sore I could barely walk the next day. Guess the joke was on me!
