Babies: 0 - 3 Months

Attn Baby wearers

What type of wrap do/did you use and do you like it?  How did LO like it?

I'm looking into getting one, however, I am TERRIFIED I will not know how to use it/put it on, or that LO won't like it.

I currently have a Jeep front carrier and it sucks.

  • DD and I both love our Moby.  There is a learning curve to it, but once you get it down it's super easy.

  • Made my own moby wrap and used the instructions on the moby page to put it on.

The baby loves it. I didn't want to spend the money on a moby just in case he didn't like it. Now I have 2 wraps that cost me about $10.

    Ditto!

I also have a Hotsling and a Babyhawk. Obsessive much? :) I like all three for different reasons but the Moby is my go-to right now.

My best advice is that if your LO cries when you first put him in, wait a few minutes to see if he calms down. It takes mine like 2 minutes to get comfy, and then she's out like a light.

  • Moby!!  He always calms down when he's put in there.  Yesterday, he was fussy in the afternoon and slept for 2.5 hours when I put him in there.

  • I have a Jeep carrier (like a Baby Bjorn) and I love it.  It was the one I used the most out of everything I have.  I also have a Moby which is fine and I plan on using it again and I have 2 hotslings I got from my SIL.  Haven't tried those yet but will with the new baby.  I've heard great things about the Ergo but don't have one.

  • I have a Moby, a BabyHawk and a sling. ?I like all three for different reasons. ?Right now we really prefer the Baby Hawk. ?It is summer and the Baby Hawk is much more breezy than the Moby - more breathable, so we don't get too hot. ?Plus, because it is not stretchy, it affords us more support than the Moby, which is good since DS is close to 16 pounds now.

  • We have a bunch, but two don't work well for newborns without an insert/modification

Soft structured carrier: Ergo & BabyHawk

Wraps: Moby & woven wrap from LoveyDuds on Etsy.  Much prefer the woven wrap.  It's stronger and better for warm weather.  To learn to tie it, there are lots of YouTube videos which I found helpful.  Also, LoveyDuds sends a DVD with her products.

Sling: don't really love it now that he's heavier

  • My DD#1 was in the hotsling from 4 weeks to 14 months.  We both LOVED it.  But it is true, you have to have it on and put DC in correctly for wither of you to be comfortable.  Once you have that down it is awesome.  Small, easy to roll and throw in the diaper bag, easy to wash, not hot.  For the twins I got the moby b/c I can put both in, and it is okay from birth.  It is hot, though.  I will probably use both interchangeably, though over all use of the hotsling is easier.

  • I love my "My Baby Nest" wrap.  It does the same thing as the Moby but it is easier for me to put on because you don't have to tie it.

Any time my DD is fighting sleep or if she is fussy at all, I will put her in the wrap and bounce on my yoga ball for a few minutes and it instantly puts her to sleep.  She will sleep for a good 2-4 hours in there if I let her!  I don't know what I would do without it!
