When and how did you tell?

I'm sure this has been posted many times already so pls forgive me.  I'm just wondering when you told your parents and everyone else and looking for creative ways to tell.  Please share your stories with me!

Re: When and how did you tell?

  • We just told MIL last night and bought her a photo album that said "grandkids" on it and gave her a card saying we looked forward to filling it beginning in March 2010.  I think there are lots more original and cute ways of doing it...but that's what we came up with on a whim! GL!

  • I haven't told yet, I REALLY want to, but since we had a m/c in January and we had to tell everyone it didn't work out we are trying to be more cautious.  This time around when we decide to tell our family, I am going to frame a sonogram picture and give to my mom and dad.

  • I am not good at keeping a secret, especially one like having a baby. So, DH and I purchased small pots of dasies and gave them to our mothers. I tucked a little card inside that said "Hi Grandma! I can't wait to meet you! I'm due November 21st! Love, your new grandbaby" They both cried and were so happy!
  • With DD we waited until Grandparent's Day and gave them a Grandchild frame with the u/s picture in it.  Don't know when Grandparent's Day is this year though...
  • That's a great question. This is how we told his parents:

We dropped by their house saying we just wanted to see them. When we got there we had a camera and I said, "I know you might not have makeup on but it doesn't matter I need a picture for a 'family project'" little did they know that it was actually on video record mode and I was recording the whole time. So I had my husband stand between his parents and I said it like this, "Ok everyone ready? Ok, One...Two...Three...Smile, we're pregnant!" It was so cute to get their reaction on video. His mom gasped and almost started crying, his dad didn't start laughing until he turned to my husband to make sure I wasn't joking. It was really cute, and then right after that my husband handed them little bibs that said "I heart Grandma/Grandpa" and then a picture frame that had a little cut paper in for the picture that said "Little Bit's picture to go here on March 24th 2010" My due date. Hopefully that helps and feel free to steal my ideas :) Enjoy, and let us know how you end up telling people.

  • It's funny b/c before we were pregnant we talked about waiting to tell for a while, but I'm ready to tell now!   My hubby thinks we should wait until after the first u/s.  I guess he's right and it would make for a cute way to tell if we had the u/s pic with us.  It's going to be a long 2 weeks! Thanks for sharing!
  • I feel so boring.  We found out when we got our BFP, approximately an hour later, everyone knew and we just told them, "We're pregnant!"

LOL.  Unimaginative!  But it did the trick!

  • I told my parents the day I got my BFP and my IL's 2 days later. We gave my IL's a card that said grandparents to be and a rattle.

  • I went over to my parents house and said I was just stopping in to say hi. Right before I was about to leave I said "oh I forgot I have something for you", and then opened my purse and handed my mother my positive home preg. test. She took it and asked what it was while she flipped it over and looked at it and handed it back! lol I guess she never seen one before! lol Then I told her to read it and in black writing she read "Pregnant" and I thought she was going to die :)

  • Well i am just horrible at keeping secrets. We told my mom and dad to keep their schedule free march 4th 2010( my due date) and they asked why and i said well so you can be at franciscan skemp hospital to meet your grandson/granddaughter.The look on their face was priceless. It was pretty unoriginal and boring but it did the trick and everybody else we just told em we were pregnant.
