I am making sangria for tomorrow night and the recipe calls for a shot of gin. And then a different recipe calls for a shot of brandy. When I have made it before, the recipe just called for a bottle of wine. How do you ladies prepare it?
my favorite trick when making sangria is not to use either- add a can of sprite or orange soda. adds the sweetness you need and a little carbonation. You can really make it anyway you want- I've yet to have sangria come out bad! enjoy!
I make it with wine (red or white depending on the sangria), added fresh fruit, cinnamon sticks, and a little brandy. I stick all these ingredients in a big glass ice tea jar pitcher (what you use to make ice tea) that has a spout. I always make it the night before and serve it the next day.
Those who only use wine in their sangria are really missing out! It's meant to pack a punch, can't imagine sangria without the kick, try it, you won't be sorry.
Re: NTR: Sangria? Use gin or brandy?
just a bottle of wine...I've never made it with a shot of anything!

Ditto.
this exactly
I know, I thought gin sounded a bit odd too. But I hate gin, so what do I know?
It sounds like a splash of brandy is in order. Thanks ladies!
