So today we found out our baby is breech. Has anyone ever had a breech PG and tried version? How painful was it? Did it work? How long of a procedure was it? Would you recommend we try? TIA
I was faced with this decision at 35 weeks with my son. Luckily he flipped before the next OB appt. I had decided to try for the version at 37 weeks, for the chance of a vaginal birth. If it hadn't worked, we would have proceeded with a c-section during week 39. I have heard that they can be quite painful and dangerous, but they are monitored closely for fetal distress. I do not think that they attempt it for too long, just so they dont put too much stress on your body. Check out spinning babies for some thing you can do at home to help your baby flip head down. This is what I did.
If I were faced with the decision again, I would attempt the version and hope that the baby cooperates. Good luck!
My doctor will not do it! He said if my little guys stays breech we will do a c section at 39 weeks! After my losses, and a pretty great pg so far, he does not want to risk it!
I haven't been faced with making this decision, but I know that if I am, I will not attempt a version. My thinking is that if the baby is breech or transverse, there is a reason he/she is laying that way. I'd hate to try the version, and then have some type of major complication with the baby (cord issues, etc)... I'm hoping my baby is head down, but if not, to me it's a sign that I'm meant to have a c-section.
My DS was breech and never turned on his own. I opted for the c-section. Between talking with my Dr. and researching it, I decided for me, that it just was too risky.
