Best INexpensive carseat for DD?

We have been using her infant seat for the carseat for the rare occasions she's in the car with someone else, but she's definitely outgrown it. I need something extremely inexpensive, that isn't TOO much of a hassle to load in and out of a car. I've seen the ones at Walmart for like $45, are those decent? (I'm assuming they're okay since they sell them)

Re: Best INexpensive carseat for DD?

  • We got the Alpha Omega Elite for about $120 on sale w/ coupon at BRU. I know that's not the cheapest out there but it was a really good price for one that will convert to a booster up to 100lbs.

  • If you are referring to the Cosco Scenera at Walmart - I have one and my mom has one in her car.  It has been a lot better than I thought.  I have read that all car seats have to pass safety inspections and what is most important that they are installed correctly.  It is a basic seat with no bells and whistles but my DD doesn't care one bit.  She even has a nice plushy Triumph in dad's truck.  I think the only negative I read about it is the height limit might be short for some kids so just check that out.
  • check out the cosco one. we got one for MIL at BRU and i think it was only like $50 some bucks!

  • I bought the Cosco Scenera for my mom and MIL and I'm very happy with it.  It got good ratings, and like pp said, it has no bells or whistles, but she's usually only on errands with them anyway.

  • We have the Graco Comfortsport for DS.  He loves it.  It's at Wal-Mart for about $70 - $80.
  • I recieved the Cosco one for free when I finished a parenting workshop while I was pregnant. It works great. It's been said before, no bells and whistles. But it get the job done. The height might be a problem though. DD is tall for her age and I can just tell she will outgrow the height limit before she outgrows the wieght limit. So that's the only downside I can see.

  • We have the Cosco Scenera for our second car and I like it. Plain but it does the job. Check overstock.com. They have a Scenera in a cute girly pattern for $36 plus $2 shipping, which is cheaper than I ever saw it at Wal-Mart, even on sale. We got ours there and it was VERY fast shipping.

  • This is the one I was talking about-- it is $37.99, not $36. It used to be that first-time customers got free shipping, so if you ask for it in the help section, they usually give it to you. Do the live help option and ask. No harm in asking.

  • Our local fire department will give you a Cosco one for free. I don't which one but I saw a family get three free carseats.
