3rd Trimester

safe to spackle?

I am tired of waiting for my husband to finish our bathroom.  ( I have been showering at the inlaws for 4 weeks now) I want to help him spackle (low dust kind)  Anyone know if it is safe??

  • I would think you're safe if you're wearing a ventilation mask, but I'm not 100% sure on that.

  • Couldn't wearing a mask help a lot, too? I'm not sure. Could ask your doc.

  • I spackled a few holes in our bathroom wall..I think you're fine. Just beware of the dust when you go to sand it. I would wear a mask.

  • Is it smelly? ?My DH just spackled about 20 holes in our house (we had the electrical redone) and I didn't smell any fumes. ?The hard part is that you need to sand it once it dries, so you need to wear a dust mask. ?I had to leave the room where ever he was working and there was dust all over the house. ?He even used a vacuum as he was sanding to suck up the particles.

  • I hope it's safe becasue I have done a ton of it since being pregnant the only thing the MW had a problem with was that I was on a ladder doing it she didn't want me up on a 12 foot step ladder working. (We have 15 tall ceiling in the room I was working in.)

The most toxic of fumes are the ones you cant smell, Just saying.

Remember there is a difference between a dust mask and a ventilator for fumes too just something to think about.

Hmmm, I always read that as long as it isn't bothering you, then it isn't bothering the baby. ?He isn't actually breathing in the air. ?But keeping it ventilated anyways is a no-brainer.
