Re: ***Tiny Turkeys Tuesday***

  • I had my OB appt yesterday with my 1 hour glucose screen.  I haven't heard anything from them yet so I'm assuming I passed?  Either way I guess I'll call tomorrow and find out.  I have my first Baby Shower this weekend in Indiana so I'm excited about that - and already stalking my registry Devil

QOTD:  I have a cat named Catalina and a Miniature Schnauzer named Bonnie.  They are totally my babies, especially Bonnie, so I don't know how they're going to handle the new invasion.  So far the only change has been to move Bonnie's bed to DH's side of the bed so I can put the PNP there eventually.  I wanted her to get good and used to that change.  I know when we start getting baby stuff, Catalina will want to sit in it, so I'll have to keep an eye on that.

  • Next apt is 8-14 and I have my glucose test then.

We have 2 cats Molly and Bianca and 1 dog Reese. The cats won't be an issue but we know there might be a bit of jealousy from Reese. So we're trying to think of what to do to get her ready. She was great w/ our nephew but he went home after a couple of hrs. Not sure how she'll feel when she realizes the baby is sticking around!

  • Next appt. is tomorrow for my GD test - eek!  I don't know why I'm so nervous about it.  My friend who goes to the same dr. told me that our office uses a lower-end threshold for passing or not passing, so that's not helping!  I guess I'll just go and do my best.  I wasn't told anything about fasting, but I plan to just eat my usual fruit for breakfast then nothing after that except water.

QOTD:  I have one beloved furbaby - a dog named Conner.  He is so my first child, I love him to little pieces.  He's a lab mix, but since we rescued him, we can't be sure what he's mixed with.  He's only about 36 lbs, so he has the size of a different breed but otherwise looks exactly like a lab.  If I had it my way, we would have at least one more dog, but DH thinks one is enough (little does he know he's wrong!).  I have been playing baby sounds for Conner (mostly crying, because it seems to bother him most) that I found on some random website.  We are trying to de-status him a bit by training him to only come up on furniture and our bed when we call him.  We've also been doing a lot of work on greeting visitors nicely and not barking.  I asked my friend if I could steal a baby blanket from her that has her 7 month-old's smell on it, and once I have my shower I plan to set up any baby furniture we receive so he can get used to it.  Wow sorry for this long answer!

  • Hey ladies! Next appt is also our glucose test! I also wriggled another u/s out of my OB, so we get to see our little girl again!

We have a little toy poodle, who is very hyper, lol, so we're a little worried how he'll be around Olivia. I think I'm going to buy a doll and pretend she's a baby just to get him used to not going near her face, jumping, etc. Hope it works!!

  • Doing well.  Today is V day.  I didn't think I'd be this excited about it, but I am.  He needs to cook a LOT longer though.  Looking forward to doing the nursery.  Last weekend we did a lot...painted and setup 1/2 of the crib.  2 of the pieces were broken, so they are being shipped.  Still have lots to buy!

I have 1 miniature schnauzer.  We're not doing anything to prepare her.  Maybe we should!  Should be interesting for sure!

  • OB appointment (with one hour glucose) next week. Nursery construction is under way, and I've gone nuts with making all of the decor (mobile, pillows, wall hangings, etc.)

QOTD: We have an 8 year old mutt who can be a little skiddish, and we're a little worried about her. I'm reading up on ways to prepare her right now, and keeping my fingers crossed that she recognizes LO as one of the family and not an intrusion.

  • I had my appt this morning, all is good, I think I have gained a little more weight than I wanted, but oh well!

We have two pups, they are our babies, I think we are going to have a trainer come into the house. ?We had a friend stay for a few days with her 8wk old, and it was interesting. ?They behaved, but there are for sure some things to be addressed!?

  • Next appt is August 10th. I'll have an u/s to check my placenta followed by an OB appt. I have the lab work to go to do my GD test, so I am thinking I may do that on Saturday morning.

QOTD: I have 4 furbabies. 1 black lab Max, and 3 cats Callie, Sara & Angel. We haven't done anything to really prep the dog yet, but we have friends who kept him for a week who have a 4 month old, and they said he was excellent. I am interested to see what others are doing to prep their furbabies.

  • I have been having tons of kicking this week - which is great!

We obviously have a dog & we have a cat. We have done nothing to prepare them for the baby. My mom suggested getting a CD of a baby crying and starting to play it for our dog.

  • Hello!!!! Not much new here.  I did finish my registry at target today - YAY!   I think I am offically done with that ... let the stalking begin. :-)

I do have a cat.  She has been with me way before DH came around. I am not sure how she is going to react.  I am planning on introducing baby smells and playing baby sounds for her.  Hopefully that will help.  I also have a parrot.  He is a talking bird.  We love him.  I told DH not to be surprised if he picks up crying from the LO.

  • I have both my follow up to the anatomy scan and my regular OB appt next Monday and I'm guessing the glucose test in a couple of weeks! I can't wait to see my little guy again!

QOTD: I have two dogs, Ellie and Mason. I'm not worried about Mason at all. He's great with everyone and is a very laid back dog that deals well with change. Ellie on the other hand is a little bit neurotic. I just talked with my mom today and we thought it would be best to have her stay with my parents when Nick is born for about a week. We'll take stuff over that has his smell and have her exposed to it as much as possible before we bring her home to him. I am also planning on carrying around a doll or something to get her used to me carrying him around...she tends to jump up and get excited when I am holding something unfamiliar. I know we'll get through it!

  • Things are good here. I've been feeling my little girl move so much more these days. I love it! Today, she kicked me so hard, I almost jumped out of my chair!

I have an appt. on Thurs and will probably have my GD test next week.

We don't have any furbabies, so I will answer the question and relate it to my daughter. She doesn't really get it, but we've been reading some books about being a big sister and another book about fun things to do with sisters. I think she's going to have a big adjustment b/c right now she is going through a huge mommy phase. I have to do everything and she freaks if my husband even tries to get her out of her carseat! LOL
