  • I hope you love them :)  So excited for you!  I was wondering if there was a reason you wanted to switch to a midwife group?

  • I had a couple of reasons. One, I didn't love my OB practice. Office visits were fine but sometimes I'd have questions I wanted to talk about and they didn't really take that time with me. Plus they wanted me to schedule an induction earlier than I felt comfortable with, fortunately I didn't need it.

Also, my doctor didn't show up to the hospital when I was in labor until I was ready to push. In fact, I was fully dialated and ready to push and she made me wait since she wasn't there. I was in labor overnight and I guess I wasn't worth the effort to come in. Bugged me. It was the awesome nurses at St. E that coached me through labor. So I'm looking for a different experience this time around.

I plan on getting another epidural, but I want to try to do as much naturally as I can. Mike had a hard time watching me in labor and didn't have the fortitude to take control and make me do the breathing like I needed him to, so it's what's best for us this time around and I'm okay with that.

For practical geographic reasons, I wanted a practice convenient to my house and both Mike's and my work and the midwives fit the bill. Also I wanted to deliver at Good Sam or Christ for the same reason, I rode in the car 25 minutes to get down to St. E  and that sucked!
