Don't quote me on this, but I think it has to do with how much of your profile you're done with? Like if you've filled out everything on your profile, etc, the boxes will be filled in.
BUT maybe I'm completely wrong. That's just what I always thought.
I always thought it meant that if you're in the top "X" number of posters (I forget what the number is), you get a box filled in...more boxes filled in means you post more. Since the top posters are always increasing their numbers, they change (the box could be filled one day, and then empty the next if you fell out of the top # list).

I XP'd this on another board and got this answer too. I think you are correct.
If you hover your mouse over the filled in box on carimeli's profile it will tell you she is a Top 500 contributer... It's not based on how many overall you post, but how active you are at that particular time.
The pp is exactly right. It compares you to everyone else posting at the moment... I don't know exactly what the time frame of comparison is, but you can lose the blocks over time if you become less active on the board - but you won't go backward in status, which is based simply on post count.

But you're a BRONZE poster! LOL. Why aren't your boxes filled in? Now I'm really curious about this... haha
But I know Gold Poster's that have no boxes filled in. Unless it's for after Platinum or something...

Thank you!
