So this weekend was a trying one....
Katie got really sick and needed breathing treatments - she is doing great now...but because of this we couldnt go to see my father. Which meant I had a hard decision to make via a conference call with the Hospice nurse.
So I have authorized my father to be put in a nursing home. He was getting worse and not eating and smoking and drinking so I made the decision to go ahead and approve his transfer into the home.
He isnt too happy about it. Well that is putting it lightly but oh well. I know his medicine will be administered to him and he will get 3 meals a day. (he was getting that from meals on wheels but he wouldnt eat it).
So it was a hard decision but one I dont regret. Now hopefully I will get down there this weekend to see him.
Re: Dad update...
I'm so sorry you're having to go through this. I'm can't imagine how hard this must be. Just know that you are doing the best you can for him.
Love the new pic of Katie! She's such a cutie!
Thanks ladies....
He will be fine...I just spoke with him and he actually is enjoying the food...lol...just like a man....
Also I know alot of the workers at the home...so I have an inside on what is going on with his treatment. I have a conference call set with his doctor once he is evaluated.
Hopefully we can work something out where he doesnt feel like a prisoner.
I know it's hard. My parents are putting my grandma in a home and it's so tough to watch that. I can't imagine having to be the one to make that choice.
At lest he's likes the food. LOL

It sounds like you made the right decision, as hard as it was to make. And fwiw, I've worked in long-term care for 11 years, and there is an initial adjustment period, but then it becomes "home" (as much as a nursing home can be) They get to know the staff and other residents and realize that having someone cook and do laundry for them isn't so bad! lol!
If you have any questions about long-term care, feel free to ask me!
