Things were going great till about 30 minutes ago. He started freaking out so we tried venting him (burping since he can no long burp with a fundo) and nothing is working. Started to feed him on the pump and that was a disaster. Ended up using the bolus? I think that's what it's called. We're still learning. His feedings are both by bottle and then what he doesn't finish we put in his button. He was 100% tube feed till today and he started taking some by bottle so I feel like we've made huge strides. I can't figure out how to use the pump and backpack. We got it all hooked up and put on him so he could play and eat and then it started feeding him all these air bubbles and then he started having these screaming fits. I have no idea where the bubbles came from since we primed it. Trial and error I guess.
Anyway, we're getting the hang of things and Colton seems to be in little to no pain so that's wonderful. I think this formula is going to eat us out of house and home though.
Thanks again for all your well wishes and prayers. We're learning daily.
Re: Home from hospital with Colton
I am so glad you are home. I am sorry to hear that you are having difficulties with the pump. I wish I lived closer I would come & help you ( I was a NICU RN for 7 years). You can always call the floor that Colton was on, the RNs should be able to talk you through programming the pump.
I really hope Colton feels better soon!

I'm glad you are home! I'm sure it will get easier as you do it more and more, but I'm sure it's also scary until you feel confident in your skills.
I'm also on the multiple board and one of the moms there has a son with feeding issues. Her blog is: https://lettenbergertwins.blogspot.com/ She's very nice on the boards (at least I think she's still on. Several of the "regulars" on the multiples board started their own board). I bet if you leave her a comment on her blog she can contact you and help you through this as someone who is living with the same issues you are.
Thank you so much!!! I'm going to check it out. We're new at this and seriously, it's like he's a newborn and we're first time parents all over again. Thanks again!
