Nursing suddenly killing my nips

Anyone have this problem?  The first few minutes of nursing are making me want to climb the walls from pain.  It almost reminds me of the first few weeks of nursing, except they're not cracked or bleeding, they just hurt.

DS finally has his two top and bottom teeth, so I'm wondering if they're part of the problem.  It doesn't feel like they are touching me at all though.  Except for the handful of times he's bitten me.

DS's top teeth have started digging in when he's nursing.  He's not biting, but his teeth leave indentions on my nips.  It definitely isn't comfortable.

I've had some more pain too with my 10 month old.  One time I saw teeth marks although she isn't fully clamping down.  A solution, I do not have.

I'm on my way to stopping because DS constantly bites me and it hurts so bad. He has 6 teeth and has had them since he was 6 months. He won't stop no matter what I do.

Maybe he has bitten you too many times and they are starting to get sore again like in the beginning. Ouch, Im sorry.

This just happened to me....couldn't figure it out....until today....just got my first pp period. ugh. I had almost forgotten my nips would get sore before my period.

 Not fun to have it again...yet, it was nice to not have it for almost 18 months...

this was happening to me for about a week and i assumed it was her teething, but actually found out it was thrush.

I just had the same thing happen, and it turned out to be thrush, like the pp.   If it is thrush, my midwife said diflucan may not be the best choice and prescribed dr. Jack Newman's nipple cream.  That stuff is awesome and works for tons of breastfeeding issues.

Sounds like you may have thrush. I would look into that right away. I've never had to deal w/it, but I've heard it can be really tough to get rid of b/c you and LO may be passing it back and forth. GL!

I sure hope it's not thrush...I'm having the same problem.  My nips are in agony right now!!  DD got her bottom two teeth (first ones) about a week ago.  Also I went back to work and now pump about 5x a day versus the 2 I used to.  I am guessing a combination of that?

I had the same problem for a short time.  I found that ds was a much more efficient nurser and kept popping off to show me he was done.  I didn't think he could be done in such a short amount of time so I would put him back on.  Well, he was done so he wasn't latching properly and was playing around with my nipple which eventually made it quite sore!

I have also had nipple pain when I had a clogged duct or a bleb (little milk blister) on my nipple.  Those hurt like a b!tch!  Check out Kellymom for more info on those!
