Is there a big difference between canned beans and dry beans?

I don't mean the canned baked beans but just plain canned beans?

  • like brown beans????  I am confused??? The only kind of beans I make are the either baked beans, bush beans, and then the dry beans w/cornbread...
  • I think that canned beans have added sodium, I could be wrong though. I typically always use canned beans, I'm too lazy to soak and cook dry beans.

  • Like say a recipe calls for dry navy beans(so I would have to soak and boil) could I use canned navy beans so I wouldnt have to do the soaking part.  Do they come out the same?

you can use canned just adjust the cooking time and multiply the quantity by 3.  Like one cup of dried beans = 3 cups of canned.
