Oh, and how do you clean bamboo placemats?

The other day I noticed one of the placemats was missing, but I kept forgetting to ask DH about it.

This morning, I was doing laundry, and found the placemat in the laundry basket.  It has what appears to be, a slice of cheese smooshed into it.

I can only assume R had something to do with it...and I bet if I ever get the real story, it will be that R was walking around with the cheese while DH was online checking the baseball scores and didn't see her get up in the chair and do it.  (Her placemat is vinyl, so she didn't do it while sitting in her chair).

Since the cheese is now "dry" most of it flaked off, but I'm thinking of using something like a toothbrush to try to get the rest off.  Any other ideas on how to clean it?

I fill the sink with a couple inches of soapy water and soak for 15 minutes, then wipe them with a dish rag.
