what does "ppd" mean?
i have only bought a couple of things from DS and my husband has our paypal account, so i always just ask him to make the payments for me and it hasn't been a problem. i know there is some discrepency about goods vs services transactions that i've seen people on here talk about but i kinda ignored it.
anyway so i made a payment to someone and she refunded it and sent me a message saying i didnt pay the fees and given the fees + shipping (she listed the exact amounts of each, which added up to about $4) it is a pain so she refunded the full amount... i dont mean to be a bad buyer, i'm just confused, since no one else has ever complained. my DH said he chose "goods" when he initiated the payment, and gave the amount i had emailed her agreeing to. so my questions are...
so how am i supposed to know what the fees are? and why am i paying fees?
and how am i supposed to add in the shipping when i have no clue how she will ship it or how much the package weighs?
am i confused or is she?????
thanks - clearly i'm in the dark about this!
Re: what is "ppd" - and paypal questions
She is in the wrong. PP has a new policy where the assess every transaction fees. She might not know that but that's what they do. And it clearly states in the PP rules that you can NOT ask someone to pay for the fees.
PPD = postage paid
ppd= postage paid
Fees are the fees that paypal charges to process a transaction. You can use this calculator: https://www.rolbe.com/paypal.htm
I think it is around 4.5% or so.
If she wanted you to pay shipping when she said ppd for the price, that is whack.
Oh...and if you send her the $$ as a personal transaction you lose ALL protection. Please do not do this.
On a side note...I get super annoyed with people who freak out over PP fees. Seriously...it's pennies. STFU and include those pennies in your asking price.
Sorry...rant over.
thanks you guys! i was so confused since this has never happened before. i can't believe it was worth canceling the sale over $4, but i didn't want to write back to her if i was in the wrong...
once again, EFF'ers to the rescue!
