Hematoma after delivery?

I just had my post partum visit and found out the incredible pain I experienced from right after birth to about 2 weeks later was a large hematoma forming from internal bleeding that the resident OB didn't catch, despite my complaints (mind you I went all natural and didn't make a peep during labor or delivery).  My dr was thinking surgery to drain it but since I'm feeling no pain anymore, wants to monitor it via ultrasound to see if it will go away on its own. 

 Did anybody else experience this?
