Arm's Reach Co-Sleeper

I posted this on 12-24 months, but figured I might get some more responses over here too.

I wasd going to get a bassinet for Baby#3, but really like the idea of the co-sleeper right next to the bed. We co-slept with DS#2 in our bed, but think it might be better this time around to give the baby it's own space.

My only question is, do I get the mini-cosleeper or the original.

Anyone have any expereince with either one of them?

  • I got the mini and loved it mainly because I was having a c the first time around and needed something close. ?I guess the regular can become a playpen but I must say a little hard to setup and heavy so I am glad I have the playpen I do.

  • we have the full size one and I love it.  DS slept in it until he was 6 months old and we all slept very well b/c DS was so close (I BF so no getting out of bed for night feedings which was great).  We will be using it for DC #2 as well.  It converts to a normal pack and play so it's still useful for us.

  • We used the mini for space issues.  Plus, we got a pack n play anyway so DS could also sleep in the living room during the day for the first few months.  I loved it.  It was so easy to just reach over and pat him and since he was very spitty it was easy to get up and change the spit pad under his head without waking DH or leaving the room.  Plus, sometimes I would pull him into bed with me because he wouldn't sleep otherwise.  And, when he was finally out I could just slide him over.

The full size may hold more weight, I'm not sure.  We used the mini for the first 4 months then I felt that he really outgrew it.

  • My SIL gave us her co-sleeper for #1 and I really disliked it. The blankets had no where to go and I did not want them hanging into the sleeper. It was also very difficult for me to climb halfway down the bed to get in and out. We had it up for a night or two before the baby was here (so it was ready) and took it down right away and pulled the bassinet in - liked that so much better.
