What do you think for a girl? It's pronounced "Dale-in." I am trying to think of a way to honor my Aunt Linda who has been battling terminal liver cancer for almost 4 years. TIA
Nms. It sounds masculine and makes me want to pronounce is Day-lyn. I think Lena, Lynn, Lina, or even just Linda as a middle name would be better. That's really nice that you want to honor your aunt though.
First thought when I saw the title was "bad boston accent" for darling. But now I get it. I think Daylen might be a better spelling? Up to you!! It is pretty
I think it's sweet that you want to honor your aunt, but this is really not a good name. Especially not for a girl. World scrambles are just weird. As others have suggested -- Linda, Lydia, Lindsay are better options.
I would probably have pronounced it Dal-in. I would just use Linda as a mn. The only other one I could think of through rearranging the letters was Dilan (like Dylan).
Or maybe Lindsay, Kaitlin, Daylin, Jocelyn, Kalin, Aerilyn, Carolyn, Adelyn, Adalyn, Emelyn, Evelyn, Jaclyn, Kaelyn, or Madelyn.
I appreciate everyone's input.... DH isn't a big fan of it either. The other name that we both like is Kaelin (spelled that way bc it is a combo of myself, mom, and aunt).
I think Kaelin is much better. The spelling seems okay to me because I grew up with a girl who's last name was Kaelin but I can see how it would be misspelled a lot. But, at least people would know how to pronounce it, and I like that it incorporates all of your names.
Re: Dalin?
The only Dallen I've known is a boy, and it's pronounced Dal-in. Never heard of Dale-in. I would not consider it a girl's name though.?
If you're having a girl, and want to honor your aunt, why don't you just name her Linda? ?

I actually like it. I think it's different and cute.
My only thing is what if they call her D? Are you ok with that?
I'm not a fan for a girl either. I think Lindsay or Lydia are good alternatives and very cute.
I've known two boys named Dallin, but they pronounced it Dal-in (as in the name AL).
I teach a Dalynn and a Daylyn...either of those are easier to pronounce than Dalin, IMO.
What about Lucinda to honor her?

If it needs a pronunciation guide, I'm not a fan.
If you want to honor your aunt, why don't you just use her actual name?
