Oregon Babies

I'm having a baby!

It's super early for me to be excited, but on Monday I decided to randomly take a test, thinking that if I happen to be pregnant it would show up, and 2 lines popped up! Totally surprised...wasn't even expecting to see two lines. I took 2 more tests on Tuesday and a digital one today just to be sure ;)

When did you tell your close friends and family? It's so early (4 weeks) i don't want to sprad the word and then have something come up before i'm in the "safe zone".

First off, congratulations!  We told our parents when I was about 7 weeks (this coincided with my mom's birthday and Father's Day).  I worked for family at the time, so they knew fairly soon as well, but in a traditional office setting, I would have waited a bit longer.  I guess it depends on how close you are with the people you are telling.  Good luck!

  • Yay! Congratulations!  We told our parents at 4 wks, the same day we found out, just later that evening.  It's the first grandchild on both sides and we knew they would be thrilled and it was thrilling to tell them!!!!!!!
  • Congratulations!  Does that mean you are a February mommy too?

We only told my mom, sisters and my MIL this time around.  The last time we told everyone though.  It's whatever you feel comfortable with.

  • Congratulations!!

I wanted to wait until we were 12 weeks to tell anyobdy... well I ended up telling the IL's and my parents the same night we found out, and then I told several of my girlfriends thenext day. I did wait to tell work until after I had an u/s at 6weeks and saw the h/b, and after that we pretty much told everybody.  I was in a wedding at 10 weeks, and i'm normally quite the drinker, so we would have had a hard time keeping that quiet.

I think the general thought is, tell the people that you would want to support you if something bad were to happen.

  • We did the same thing. We found out on new years day, and just happened to be meeting up with my family for lunch... it was our christmas since we couldn't all get together. I agree with Jen. Tell the people you would want to comfort you if things just didn't turn out. My mom had 2 m/c and a stilborn before me, and I was afraid I would happen to me too. But I startd looking at it as though, if something happened, it was just not meant to be at that point in time and baby would be remembered. Also, there was no keeping it from my parents! My mom would figure it out if I breathed just right. Lol

  • Congrats!!!

I'm a pessimist, I guess. We waited until about 13 weeks to tell anyone. Just about killed DH, but I was insistent. Actually, we told my brother and SIL a couple of weeks early, because they announced that they were pg to us at about 10 weeks (our EDDs are only one day apart). They had already told my parents they were pg, but they helped keep our secret until I was ready.

  • We talked a bit more last night and I think we are going to hold off until father's day weekend. I would be 7 weeks. When should i expect to have my first ultrasound? It would be cool if i could show our families a picture.
  • My first Dr appt. was @ 8 weeks, then we found out it was 7 weeks.  We did a quick little ultrasound in the room and got a pictures!  Looked like a little cacoon.  Father's Day weekend sounds great!  What a great Father's Day gift for the soon to be Grandpa's!!

We gave my parents a little card asking if they were ready to be grandparents.  My dad was questioning it, and then passed it to my mom who then threw her hands up over her eyes and started crying! Lol.  (she is where I got my emotional side from (thanks mom!)).

    CONGRATS!!! :)

  • Awesome!

We found out at 6weeks and told everyone around 10weeks because DH couldn't hide his excitement anymore ;)

I'm at 19 weeks and still haven't told work yet...I'm a small frame so I have just started to grow a bump, but it just looks like I gain a beer belly to the untrained eye..
