Re: Pubic Bone Pain?!?!

  • I've had it since about 15 weeks too...now it's reallly bad at times to the point that I can't even walk and it feels like my entire pelvis is going to split in half right down the middle. It's actually your pelvis and pubis symphysis bones. During pregnancy, our hormones make our bones stretch and this is what causes it. Sometimes, when it is REALLY severe, it is a dysfunction but there really isn't anything they can do for it.

  • Yes.  I've had this for a while.  Same days are better than others, and I have the same symptoms.  For me, it's pretty constant, with some bad days and some good days.  When I have to pee, it makes it worse too.
  • thank you for your replies!!!  i was reading about strict "bed rest" needed later in pregnancy...have you heard of this?

i hopes its just normal growing pains!!

Your bones don't stretch.  When you're pregnant, your body releases relaxin, which relaxes the tendons and ligaments that hold all the bones and muscles tightly together.

  • Unfortunately, it just gets worse!  I have the constant feeling like I have been kicked in the crotch and am badly bruised.  The swelling doesn't help either.

Ya, this is what I meant..."flexibility allows the bones to move freely and to expand to help a baby fit through more easily during birth.  In fact, the pregnancy hormones relaxin and progesterone help the ligaments of your body to loosen and be even MORE flexible than before, so that there is plenty of 'give' and lots of room for the baby to slip right through."

Definitely not how it came across lol.

  • SO glad you posted this.  I have been feeling sore in the pubic area, too, and wondering what was going on.  It is not my vag or labia or anything, just the whole general area feels sore - very much like I got kicked there!  Sometimes I get these "stabs" of pain, pretty quick usually, but mostly it just feels sore.  I thought about calling the doc but assumed since there was no cramping/spotting/etc, that it must just be more hormones/blood volume/relaxin issues.

But I AM relieved to see it seems to be normal.  Thanks girls.
