if you have a brand new luxury vehicle you can SELL IT for a cheaper used car. then use the difference to buy the things you need. usually, someone who is just laid off and has a car like that has some sort of savings. and if they don't, they do the practical thing and sell it or downgrade, UNLESS- they're really trying to rip off the government.
While that is true. If they got laid off yesterday the may not have sold it yet or like I said they could be riding with a friend or relative or it was borrowed.
very true, but i still judge. i know of too many situations where the riding with a friend or borrowing thing is not the case.... so of course i always think the worst. especially if they are using food stamps to buy crap that is not healthy. there are some regulations on what you can buy, but not as many as there should be.
I quit my job to be a SAHM and DH is self-employed. With our family size to income ratio we qualify.
That being said, even though we DO qualify (read: not cheating the system) we do not get WIC because we have no problem paying our bills and I EBF. There have been girls on the Swap Spot board in the past who sell the cans of formula they receive from WIC to make money (because they also EBF and are ripping off the system) and people have attacked them. Don't be "that" person.

Ihave to be blunt here. If you're even considering this, you need to get some sort of counseling and learn to be an honest parent. I am on WIC, because without it, I wouldn't be able to feed my child without stealing.
It's bcause of people like you though that I have to fight to get my daugher formula that works for her because the state is literally running out of money And I live in a state that'll only give her cereal and formula!
Don't lie. The limits are there for a reason and I don't appreciate people like you who can afford to feed your child screwing things over for people whose life went to hell and they absolutely need WIC. In this economy, when even individual states are struggling, you're stealing food from my child and I'm not okay with that.

Why on earth would you think that was an ok thing to do? It's lying, fraud and just wrong. Start setting a good example for your LO now and DON'T LIE.
By lying to get assistance that you don't need, you're placing undue burden on the program, which, guess what, increases taxes since WIC is a government program. People who do this are scewing over the rest of us that have some integrity. Would it be nice if someone bought groceries for us? Heck, yes. But that doesn't make it right.

if you didn't think it was wrong, you wouldn't have posted it here.
And you should report that social worker for encouraging your to commit fraud.
