So, this girl just friended me on Facebook

I confirmed her as a friend because her name sounded vaguely familiar, and I was curious.

She just sent me a note and is super excited to have found me.  She talks like she used to know me really well, but I really don't know anything about her!  She graduated two years before me in high school.  Maybe we played sports together?

I guess I'll be cordial but vague when replying?

  • Weird.
I?d probably say ?So what was your favorite memory of me??
That will get her talking, and may spark a memory on your end.

  • I had the same thing happen to me.  I ok'ed her as a friend and she sent me a note like we were long lost buds or something.  She went to my high school and graduated the same year as me.  I have no freaking clue who she is.  And I remember everyone from school.  There were only like 120 of us in my class.  I keep meaning to break out my yearbook and have forgotten to do it.

I think cordial but vague is probably the way to go.

  •  I hate when names/faces look familiar but you can't place them. Do you have an old yearbook that you could refer back to?

Ditto the suggestion to check your yearbook and then talk to your mutual friends.  I'm super suspicious about "long-lost-friends" on FB.  You never know what these people have become.

I'd check out her page, pics and friends. Maybe something will jog your memory. I had a girl f/r me and she had graduated the year before me.  We were in choir together but *rarely* spoke to each other.  I accepted the f/r but later removed her when I realized she was collecting the entire school (only about 200 people, but still).

  • And remember, there is no shame in a little de-friending.
