Does anyone else dread diaper changes?

I swear it just gets harder and harder to change DS's diaper.  I especially hate the messy ones.  Not only will he not keep his hands off himself while Im trying to clean it all up but then he rolls around like an alligator doing a death roll.  I try to distract him with a toy or something to hold but he quickly loses interest.

  • DH can change him no problem. He gives me the hardest time.I have learned to change the wet ones while he's running around.

  • Yup, we have the exact same problem. Some times it's just easier to let her sit up to change the wet ones.

  • DS is the same way.  Except luckily he doesn't touch himself that much.  I just force him to lay there until I finish. Even if it means I have to hold him down. No exceptions.  Eventually he will know that is what he has to do and no amount of crying or squirming will make it go faster.  I feel like this is an early form of discipline.  Plus, if I let him get away early without his diaper on, he will contine to be mad every time.
  • I hear ya. My son get fascinated by a little lotion on his hands which lasts long enough for a quick dipe change. HTH
  • You sound like an excellent candidate for early potty training.

I'd get him a toilet insert.  Stick some books in the bathroom.  And let him do his business in the loo.  I haven't changed a poopy diaper in over a year.  (Nope, don't miss it.  ;)
