We're registering for both because sometimes the baby will like one and not the other. If she likes both, then we'll keep the bouncer at my parents house.
I'm wondering this too. We live in a one bedroom apt and I know we don't have for every different seat/swing/bouncer etc they make. I guess it probably depends on what your baby will like?
I'm not planning to register for either. A friend of mine waited until her baby was born and then took her to babies-r-us and tried her in both of them. She bought the one that the baby seemed to like best.
Register for both. People *love* giving bouncers and swings as a gift. If you can't have a swing because of space issues then leave it off although you most likely will receive one. I did not want a swing because our condo is too small to have something that big take up space so we didn't register for one. I kind of wish I did though because we received one anyway and it just so happens to be one that has all kind of safety issues with it so I can't even use it.
Both! The bouncer is easy to take with you and a swing is also nice to have. They serve different purposes and therefore I believe both are needed. I used to work at BRU and most people typically bought and used both.

I would wait on the swing. My SIL gave me a bouncer to use. When they had their second baby, they had to go get a swing because he was a fussy baby. The first baby didn't need one. So I don't plan to register for a swing and will wait until I see if the baby needs it and we will buy one instead.

They really do serve different purposes. We want the bouncer for when we need to get things done like showering of folding laundry -- we can have her sitting safely right by us. The swing would be used more for helping her nap or calming her down if she's particularly fussy and not responding to me/DH's soothing.?
DEFINITELY BOTH!!! the swing was a miracle/lifesaver with my ds in the beginning- he still liked being in it at about 5 months or so. the bouncy is really great too- great vibrating to calm down as a baby and then as they are older and can sit- great place to hang out, feed them, etc..
DD refused to nap anywhere but her swing for the first 9.5 months of her life! To us, a swing is absolutely essential!!! She was also colicky and swings (on the fastest setting) are really great for colicky babies. The bouncer, DD didn't care for much but it did help entertain her on occasion.
Swing = good sleep!
ETA: get a swing that goes side-to-side like the FP Papasan ones. Those are amazing for getting them to sleep.

BRU sells a swing where the seat is a removable bouncy seat too! So you get two for one!

We will be registering for/buying both for sure.
