I'm a Canadian but I live in the states. I was talking to a friend today about what to have for dinner. I said "Oh, I'll probably just be lazy and have Kraft Dinner." She looked at me like I had 7 heads. I guess only Canadians call mac n' cheese Kraft Dinner- is that right? Weird, since I've been living here for 5 years and this is the first time I've come across it.
Re: I had no idea
We just call it mac-n-cheese.
Heather
oh Kraft Dinner
you taste even better with hotdogs and ketchup hahah
:P?
The only time I've heard the phrase is in the Barenaked Ladies song. I assumed it was poetic license rather than a Canadian-ism.
Funny - I never questioned what they meant. Maybe it was context...because, yes, if I had a million dollars I WOULD still eat Kraft Dinners!
YAY! A Canadian! My DH thinks it's disgusting the way I eat KD- and he totally does not get the concept of poutine at all. Very sad- he's missing out.?
Ha ha, I probably would have been like your friend. I know the Barenaked Ladies song but I always pictured some sort of Kraft microwaveable meal. Definitely not mac n cheese. Too cute, eh!
