Multiples

Do you belong?

Do you belong to a multiples club in your area? When did you join? ?Do you find the time to attend?

I've been looking at joining the Denver area Mother's Of Multiples club, but I have a few reservations. ?However, I can see the benefits of learning from other MoM's. ?Any opinions?

Re: Do you belong?

  • I don't, mostly because I have no free time.  I work a ton, and all non-working time is family time.

I might join just to get in on the garage sales, though.

  • I don't belong to my cities group, but it was bc I did not fit in at all and the ladies (a term I use loosely) made sure I knew I didn't fit.

BUT-- I know a bunch of the girls here love their group and have made good friends from it!

  • I joined when I was about 7 mos pg and my local group has been great.  They assigned me a "mentor MoM" who checked on me through my pregnancy and the first few months after the babies were born, brought meals a few times, lots of free clothes Big Smile   Now that I'm back working I don't have much time to go to regular meetings, but I try to go every other month or so when they have a family type event or to their MoM's coffee night when I can.  Mostly I now watch their bulletin board for used items cheap!!
  • I do, joined when I was pregnant. I haven't been to a meeting since I was pg b/c I don't have the time right now. I have volunteered for other things the club does & I went to the gear sale so I stay involved.
  • I joined, because ours is free to join, but I have not gone to any of the meetings.  I'd rather be with my kids or with my friends (or you guys).

    Intrigued. Why were you ousted?

I have had such a difficult time engaging in mothers groups. I feel like I am on the dating scene again, this time getting rebuffed by women with kids. I have actually seen it happen to other girls-getting rebuffed. It is like hey you were turned down too-you want to go out? Is there a secret handshake/password I don't know about?

  • I didn't, but just because I have no free time.  Besides, I would have to clean my house to partake in play dates and frankly, I'm all set, LOL!  Big Smile

I joined back when I was PG, but I've never been to any meetings.  I participate in the sales (buying and selling), and I do some of the kid-related social events.  But I don't do the MoM's Night Out or Beach Weekend types of things.  Don't really fit in with the "in" crew.

  • The main reason I belong to my club is for the twice a year Twins Sale.  Members can get in the night before the sale and obviously can sell, too.  I have made close to $1000 in the past 2 sales and have purchased an entire season worth of cothes for my twins for super cheap each time.  Totally worth the $20 membership fee.

I've only made it to a few meetings, but I've become pretty close friends with several of the members (specifically who's twins are the same age as mine).

  • I belong. Mainly for the really amazing twice a year consignment sales.  But I've also taken the kids to a few of the kid based social things like the halloween party.  There is also a message board that is slow but interesting for local kid advice.  But I don't go to the regular meetings or anything like that (actually I've only been to one and that was about a month ago when they had a special speaker on potty training).
