Baby Names

how would you spell it?

I'm leaning towards the name Kennedy as a girl.  I was wondering if any of you would use this name, would you keep the spelling like the President's last name or would you find a unique way to spell it.  I have seen it spelled Kenadi and thought that it looked a little more feminine.  Do you think this spelling way too out there?

Re: how would you spell it?

  • I would probably go with Kennedy

  • Yeah, I like Kennedy the best.  It looks the cutest, IMO.
  • I'm not a big fan of changing the spellings of names.  I think you just set your child up for never having her name spelled right.  Kennedy is so well known why not leave it that way. Just my 2 cents.
  • OMG- I always joke about the Kenadi spelling! I think it's one of the worst I've ever seen, sorry.

    Definitely Kennedy!

  • I would spell it Kennedy for sure.  I think spelling it like Kenadi is definitely way too out there.

  • Please spell it Kennedy.  She doesn't need to spell her name for the rest of her life.  Kenadi looks weird to me.  The name is pronounced the same, regardless of how it's spelled.

  • Kennedy. I wouldn't try anything "unique" b/c usually it just doesn't turn out ok.
  • I think you should spell it like Kennadie, or Kenadie. It is more feminine.
  • I would spell it correctly - Kennedy.
  • when you wrote Kennedy i thought i like that name

when you wrote Kenadi i snorted

The way you spell a name doesn't make in 'femanine' the person that carries the name does. So if you name a girl Kennedy, it will be feminie.

My name is Rikki. I have had to spell it for people for YEARS, my entire life, and it gets old. It's really the same name, even if it's spelled differantly, so please spare your child, and spell it right.

I mean would you spell Sidney, Sydnee or Sidnie just b/c it's more feminie? I think not!

  • Oh for heavens' sake.  Spelling a name differently does not make it more feminine.  It makes it misspelled.  If you insist on naming your child Kennedy, at least spell it correctly.

    Kennedy.

Although I agree that Kennedy is better spelling, I disagree with the second part. I personally would spell Sidney as Sydney. Not b/c its more feminine but because I like it that way. I would also spell Casey as Kacie, b/c its more feminine. I think it depends on the name.
